\ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddec Egyptian CSOs in action: A successful pilot phase of PPI OSCAN 3<\/h1>\n

Ten months<\/strong> after the launch of the pilot phase of the PPI OSCAN 3<\/strong> program in Egypt<\/strong>, the first results are in. Three local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)<\/strong>, each supported with \u20ac10,000<\/strong>, have successfully implemented concrete and innovative projects in favor of the environment and local communities. This success is largely due to the strategic support of RAED \u2013 Arab Network for Environment and Development<\/strong><\/span>, a member of IUCN-Med<\/strong> and coordinator of the program in Egypt.<\/p>\n

This pilot experience, closely supported by the Mubadarat<\/strong> program, demonstrates the ability of Egyptian CSOs<\/strong> to turn targeted support into tangible results. It sets the stage for the sustainable strengthening of environmental civil society in Egypt through structured support from IUCN-Med.<\/p>\n

Three flagship projects for a pilot phase!<\/h1>\n

1. Preserving the Nile Seeds: A Sustainable Initiative for Biodiversity<\/b><\/h2>\n

In Aswan<\/strong>, the Benban Solar Energy Investors Association for Community Development<\/strong> launched a Nile Basin Seed Bank project on Saluga Island<\/strong>. The objective is to preserve the seeds of threatened local plants, train 20 agronomists<\/strong>, researchers, and teachers, and raise awareness among farmers about conservation. The project combines biodiversity preservation with economic benefits for the communities. During field expeditions, 12 plant species<\/strong> were collected, and 20 people<\/strong> were trained in seed collection and conservation, including 10 women and 10 youth<\/strong> who received paid training.<\/p>\n

This project represents a significant advancement in preserving local natural resources<\/strong> and generating income for the community<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2. Protecting sea turtles in Sinai: A community mobilization<\/h2>\n

In the coastal city of El Arish<\/strong>, the Sinai Women’s Rights Association<\/strong> launched a sea turtle conservation project<\/strong>, with some species listed on the IUCN Red List<\/strong><\/span>. Over 10 months<\/strong>, the association carried out:<\/p>\n
