Capacity building of Libyan and Tunisian CSOs: a step forward in the framework of the Mubadarat strategy

From 19 to 22 December 2024, Tunis hosted two strategic training sessions organized within the framework of the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation’s (IUCN-Med) Mubadarat strategy. These trainings aimed to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) in fundraising and partnerships, while adapting the content to the specific needs of Libyan and Tunisian CSOs.

Successful collaboration for Libyan & Tunisian CSOs

On 19 and 20 December 2024, a first session was held with 17 participants, including PPI OSCAN 3 beneficiaries and members of the IUCN Libyan National Committee, On 21 and 22 December 2024, a second session was dedicated to Tunisian CSOs, bringing together 18 participants from the PPI OSCAN 3 and TransCap 3 programmes, as well as members of the Tunisian National Committee of IUCN.  The workshop, entitled “Developing a funding strategy for an environmental association”, aimed to:

  1. Master the fundamentals of designing targeted funding plans and identifying relevant donors.
  2. Strengthen their capacity to develop strong and competitive proposals for new funding opportunities.
  3. Encourage collaboration and the development of effective partnerships within the Mubadarat framework.

We are particularly proud to see a strong female participation in both workshops, which demonstrates a promising commitment for a sustainable future.

Strong regional commitment:

Both of these courses are part of the IUCN-MED commitment to support CSOs in North Africa and strengthen their role in environmental conservation. By promoting practical learning tailored to the needs of each national context, these workshops help build a solid foundation for sustainable environmental management.

Lasting impact:

Participants leave with increased skills and a clear vision of the strategies to adopt to sustain their actions. The success of these two events demonstrates the importance of Mubadarat’s collaborative approach, which places CSOs at the heart of its priorities.

These trainings have mobilized beneficiaries of the TransCap 3 and PPI OSCAN 3 programs, which represent associations committed to conservation and sustainable development in North Africa. By building their capacity, Mubadarat continues to build a community of active and ready CSOs to address environmental challenges.
