The Alhaya Organization’s project aims to address the threats facing the Wadi El Naga natural reserve and the directly visible effects of erosion and biodiversity loss. The organization is working to implement a participatory management plan including the Ministry of the Environment, Agricultural Department and municipal council, other Civil Society Organizations and the local population living near the reserve. In particular, the project will target the adoption of a joint policy for sustainable water resource management and plan income-generating initiatives for the population which promote and sustain conservation of the reserve’s biodiversity.
Given the lack of awareness and information on the fauna and flora’s state of conservation, the organization also wants to launch a research and scientific communication structure within the reserve, create a database and increase information activities amongst the population.
